A great play for any offense and a staple of two-back offenses is the Power. Power, as most folks are aware, involves in the Fullback kicking out an edge defender, and the Guard pulling up through the hole to block a Linebacker.
The play is a great way to get extra blockers to the point of attack. It is a strong, quick-hitting off-tackle play (though some teams will run it tighter).

Hi! This is Joe Daniel with Football-Offense.com. Today we are going to look at the power play, a strong off tackle running play that you’ve glad any offense of package to give yourself another downhill off tackle play really, put the pressure to defense. For the power play were going to draw up here against the 4-4 defense or 4-2-5 defense out of an I for a maze, you don’t have to a I formation you need to have a two back formation really to run the power. You could run to quarterback out of the shotgun look with one back if you had a lot of thing with motion, take inch of block you kick out block in there. If you are going to run out of I formation, you should going to look traditional way to run the power. We got the tight in of the left hand side and with the 4-4 defense we got an inside shade in defense of end here. We are going to attack the first men outside of the B gap here. So we had a head up we could run the power up here, we got a head up on the tackle here we are going to have outside the tackle his person that going to go after with our power block. In order to do that the first key block is going to block the down block the double team by the tackle guard on the play side in this situation. If we are going to look at odd front we have probably had a double happening against the nose guard but here we got us got a double happening all in this defense tackle free3 technique. Key block right there when you get him and handle him so that we do have any penetration there. We can get our extra blockers through point of attack so we are going to double down with the tackle in the tight end. They are going to work this combo and work into the backside backer here as he comes over the top. The back block by the seal is another key block, his going to get back and handle 1 technique we do not allow any penetration through where we got pulling guard living. So, his going to block back and handle this 1 technique defense attack or nose guard. We are going to hitch with the backside tackle or backside tackle hitch blockers form. Therefore, we do not get penetration from the starting linebacker his going to step down. Look to see if anything comes to see in that B gap dancing from loaf to back up and handle defense of end. That is also going to putting him to position in case we got. A cutwork 5 defense of end meter where knives in that B gap you would be a position to pick that up. So he steps down her if anything tried to come through here. If nothing comes, so inch, back and handle width rush end of defense of end that nobody can penetrate through. Our tight end if his got an inside shade his going to arc release, his going to arc release that outside backer just get him out the way. If you have an outside shade we can release him down inside or no backer if we have 4-3 loaf they can be inside to a linebackers will take the easiest release and pick up the first thing near among second level. A full back on stop of the ball is coming down his running like his the ball, here is that he is coming off his double team where he come right to his double team with the turn in. And attacks the upfield shoulder defense are not comes at the field were in attack the upfield shoulder than defense of end and give him drive in this way. So we do not warning going upfield we want to kneel the unfiled shoulder and drive in this way out of the hole. A defense of end is going to come up, if comes down the wall arm if you attach really hard down the line we can always attack his outside shoulder and lock him inside. Alternatively, really want to get his kick out block right here that is the purpose of the power play is kick out a fullback or backside door is going to pull. His going to come right in the hip of the center of halve this double team just like the back his doing and turn off tight allowing snapping of inside of him and in that double team, his going to turn off tight and pick up the first pack of the disguise should be that place side backer. At this point, we have things pretty well on hand. The back quarterbacks coming in and out and ball off to the tailback who is again hanging this double team. Everything is happen tight to the double team and that is important. You should running back going to run wider or get out closer when the kick out blast after that not the rule wants the ball to go to the one that tight off that double. Because in the secondary I would like you to deal with now safety. We are going to release the receiver out of twin set and come pick up take that safety, now we are off the races. A nice play here, you do have a possibility to cut back lane. In this, A gap the very thing was coming hard for hard get to that power play; you could play back in that A gap that was sometimes open up for you. Most team is going to teach their linebacker to work through. This place I A gap when you see the guard pull, so you got him ready for this backers come hard now to that place I A gap. Be ready to come off the peelback cut opening penetration there. That is going to really help to show up your power play. You do not have the penetration through this backside gaps. You are going to be a runner match better. Powers of reply out of any formation you have ever worked it inn. Just are created with it, you can motion a receiver it becomes your kick out block. You do not have to have a tight end; you do not have to have two backs. Coz any numbers of things you can do to get this play form in your offense fantastic play. Hope you enjoy this.
